From the Uaupes we hear in 2 BR II 12: One morning the mother of the mulrakita (Amazon-stone) went for a walk to the wood, in the shape of the Big Serpent. A man who had gone hunting killed her, thinking this was a real snake. When she died the river rose and flooded all the country.
